Guatemala’s Diverse Treasures
Guatemala is a small exotic country in Central America with a diverse geography that includes 33 volcanoes, highland areas, cloud forest, rainforest, and even desert. Guatemala has a unique culture with a large indigenous Mayan population still living much as they have for hundreds of years and with many traditions and beliefs dating back to ancient times. There are 23 different Maya languages spoken in Guatemala. Every village has its own distinctive textile, using colors and symbols particular to their region.
Ecuador: Discovering the Amazon Rainforest
The Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest is one of the least explored areas in the country and one of the richest in terms of wildlife. This region has the smallest population and faces great challenges regarding sustainability and development. In this journey you will experience different rainforest ecosystems, wildlife and indigenous communities/cultures, an innovative education and conservation project, and responsible tourism in practice. Visit a micro-finance project of Esperanza International, stay at an eco-lodge, and visit the most significant pre-Columbian site in the entire Caribbean Basin. You will come to appreciate just how much of a difference you can make.
